Reaching our Goals in Sobriety

How we were going to get our next drink was the biggest goal we once had but now that we have gone through detox and we are sober, so the options seem unlimited! From completing college, getting that amazing job, or taking a cake for a year of sobriety.  Each one of these goals are stepping stones to our new way of life. One of the amazing aspects of Above it All Drug Rehab is its ability to help us see our patterns, fears, and ambitions as well as help us to stay sober. The tools we are provided help ensure our stability when it comes to the journey we are about to embark on. Whether it is calling our sponsor, doing a thorough inventory, praying and meditating on what is the right course of action, attending a meeting to find solution, or talking to fellow sober friends about their goals and accomplishment we are able to gain a new perspective. Setting small goals are vital to our sobriety just like when we first receive addiction treatment, get sober, and have to take it one day at a time. One can become overwhelmed if we go from drinking daily to trying to figure it all out as soon as we get sober. It’s better to balance our daily activities and keep our goals realistic reminding our selves anything is possible as long as we are willing to do the work. Do not become discouraged, if a goal takes longer to reach then expected, as it’s all about perspective. We wasted plenty of time doing things that did not benefit ourselves and as long as we continue growing and changing, that is what matters. We now have all the time in the world to reach our goals!
