Staying Sober During Travel

Traveling in SobrietyTraveling can be stressful. Depending on where and why we are going we need to plan accordingly. If we know we will be traveling for a long period of time it is vital that you make plans prior to leaving such as finding meetings in every place that you may be stopping at or visiting, calling your sponsor to discuss any feelings you may encounter along the way,  checking in while you are away, reaching out to fellow sober friends who may  be able to inform you about where good meetings may be, asking a sober friend to travel with you depending on what your reasons for traveling are, and just staying connected when it gets to be too much. There are plenty of options available to keep you safe and sober along the way. One of the many gifts of going through alcohol detox, AA, or AIA and getting sober is that we are now able to have a life and truly live. Thanks to the tools addiction recovery has to offer, you can begin to thoroughly enjoy life and embark on many adventures without the fear of a relapse. Life is in session and we got sober to enjoy life.  With the tools that we have been armed with we can go anywhere and do anything.
